Whit Gets Fit!

I began my weight loss journey at the end of January, and I recently hit my Weight Watchers goal. This after picture was taken on 11/11/2011. I’ve lost 47lbs since January! Woohoo!

Shrinkvivor began at the end of September. Since joining, I lost 7.7lbs! That’s 5% of my body weight in 6 weeks!

Hi, everyone! My name is Whitney, and I am so excited to have made it to the Top 7 of Shrinkvivor! Shout out to Tribe Purple! It’s been great getting to know you ladies, and I appreciate your hard work and support during the past few weeks.

THE QUESTIONS:
1.  Have you developed any new healthy habits that you will carry forward after the challenge? Yes! I think the weekly challenges of building up fitness minutes helped me spend more time at the gym and to push myself to work harder. Sometimes, I barely clocked in 30 minutes, but the promise of immunity and helping my team pushed me to work harder and stay at the gym longer!
 
2. Who or what has been your biggest inspiration in your health and weight-loss journey? At first, finding that my health was improving really motivated me to continue with my weight loss journey. The more I moved, the better I felt. This time last year, I was barely able to walk up a flight of steps without feeling winded, and I could hardly walk a block without my back pain causing me to stop walking until it went away.


Since starting to lose weight, I realized I needed an excellent support system. Thankfully, my friends and family have supported me as I began to lose weight and get fit. I also found an incredible support network on Twitter. Many thanks to all of you who have cheered me on, shared recipes, pushed me to work out harder, and swapped pictures and victories along the way!

 
3. What was your favorite part of this challenge? My favorite part of the challenge has been meeting new weight loss buddies online.. and of course, tapping into my more competitive side. It’s been a blast!



4. What have you learned about yourself in the last 6 weeks? I learned that my plateau could be overcome! I was stalling with my weight loss, and worse, I was feeling bored with my fitness routine, and the daily maintenance of tracking food. The challenge was the perfect chance to get in touch with new people and break through my plateau! Over six weeks, I lost an additional 5% of my body weight. How incredible! The Shrinkvivor challenge couldn’t have arrived at a better time.

5. Why do you deserve to be the Ultimate Shrinkvivor? Back in January, when I began to lose weight, I set out to lose weight so I could stop being the “fat friend” and “fat sister.” My intentions were a bit selfish, but as I reached out to the fitness community online, I realized I could teach and inspire people with my story. More importantly, I learned that my new friends could teach and inspire me to do my best, celebrate non-scale victories, and embrace the exciting challenge of losing weight.
